Our Worship

What should I wear?

Anything you feel comfortable in. Many members are dressed casually.

What happens during the service?

Our services are about an hour long, give or take ten minutes. Our worship is liturgical, meaning that it follows a similar pattern each week. The liturgy includes spoken responses, sung responses, Scripture readings, hymns and other short songs, and is highlighted by a sermon from the pastor, usually 15 to 20 minutes long. Music is played on organ, piano, and guitar.

What about kids?

We love having children of all ages at our worship services. We believe that families worshiping together is important. If your kids do get restless and you need to regroup, we can accommodate for that too.

Hi, I'm Pastor Dan Marggraf, and I serve at Our Savior and Faith. I received a Bachelor of Liberal Arts degree from Martin Luther College in New Ulm, MN , and then continued my studies at Wisconsin Lutheran Seminary and received a Master of Divinity degree in 2015. My wife, Hannah, and I were married in the summer of 2016.

I'm eager to put my training to practical use serving members and citizens in Elizabeth, Freeport, and the nearby communities.

Our Beliefs

We are a biblical church, wanting what God has to tell us in his Word to have the first place in what we believe and directing our world view.

We are a Christian church, gathering to praise God (Father, Son, and Holy Spirit) and to be strengthened by his Word. We reach out to those around us in Christian love with both the saving message and to meet local needs.

We are a Lutheran church. Through Jesus Christ's payment alone for sins God declares a person forgiven, righteous, and holy. This teaching of justification is our constant message.

For a more detailed explanation of our beliefs, see the documents below. "This We Believe" is a statement of beliefs from our national church body, the Wisconsin Evangelical Lutheran Synod (WELS). The Augsburg Confession is one of the historic documents explaining what Lutheran churches believe, teach, and confess.

Finally, our pastor is always ready to study with you, from the Bible, so that you can see for yourself what God says.
